Vision
CWC seeks to contribute to the historical development of poetry by black writers and to reaffirm the cultural value that the black literary perspective brings to society as whole.
Mission
CWC seeks to create a viable and supportive environment for poets in which opportunities for skill enhancement exist and individual professional and personal goals are achieved.
Goal
CWC has two major goals: to add value to the individual works of its members and to create opportunites for practice, perfomance and publication.
Objectives
The objectives of CWC are to: collectively share and critique the works of individual members; jointly work on projects such as anthologies and performance events; attend the events of individual members; host events for individual members; share information related to opportunities for the submission of works, workshops, lectures and various other educational forums; network with poets in a variety of geographical locations; and conduct fundraising activities to offset the expenses incurred by the organization.
